Guild capes -- Forced?
Is there ANY way to disable showing the guild cape?
I find the capes very annoying.. In every single game I've ever played guild branding has always been an optional thing.. Of course I'm not asking to be able to hide my guild, I just don't like the guild capes. I find no originality or serious customizability which makes me go "Oh yeah, that cape.. he's from such-and-such guild." they are all practically the same, you pick a stupid logo and pattern from a limited selection and then customize the colors. Unfortunately since guilds are a complete necessity (hence, GUILD WARS) I can't just stay guildless.. |

Actually, you can.
Who says you MUST join a guild? What are you losing by not joining a guild? Hi pressure to defend your guild hall? The responibility to MUST BE THERE when guildmates are online? I'm certain it's possible to go through this game with guildies and guildless and still have fun doing so. The title may seem to favor MUST BE IN GUILD but being in a guild can be quite troublesome and at the same time beneficial. You really shouldn't think that MUST BE IN GUILD should the thing. Make friends. You can do that outside a guild just fine. |

Facetious answers aside, no, there is no way to turn off the display of your cape. I find this highly irritating as well. Lets hope a future patch takes care of this.

leave the guild.
I created a guild with a buddy and another friend joined...we have no cape because we all agreed that they look rediculously stupid. As far as I can tell...other than status...there is no reason to be a member of a guild. |

You joined a guild with a cape. I'm sorry, but if you don't like it, don't be in that guild. IF they do come out with any fix, I'm sure it'll be purely clientside (thus, others will see your cape just fine). In the end... make your own, capeless guild. Or deal. I don't like the cape on my char, but damn I love my guildies and their retarded ways. |

Nah, /hidecape, /hidehelmet are very common things and shouldn't be just client side. More important things are subjective.

I guess I'm just one of those players that could care less what everyone else is doing. I have no need to talk to anyone that isn't in my guild(my friends) or in my vent server. And if I do I'm perfectly capable of whispering more than one person at a time. |

At least make it so the cape only shows up when you are in town so other players can see what guild you are in. but in the field have it disappears so it doesnt annoy me as much.

I always figured they could just make a cape slot in your inventory right above your weapon slots. Make the cape an item you can't drop, trade, sell, or recycle. Something that will always be in your inventory, or maybe just put a little switch/button in your inventory window called, "Cape Display".
Btw, I am guildless and I had no problems getting my ele to ascention. |

I, too, can't stand the fugly capes. Yargh. May the developers hear this plea for a /hidecape command *crosses fingers*
That said, I thought it was impossible to get a guild hall without a cape? Or can you? |

Yes.
You cannot have a guild hall without a cape, as it also serves as your guild's banner. So therein lies the real purpose of the cape. |

Exactly. I think sometime in the near future ArenaNet will be adding a possible cape display feature.

Ummmm.... Am I the only person who actually likes their cape. Ithink that if you take the time to make it original then there isnt a problem. Dont any of you like the way the cape flows when you run!

It certainly looks cool sometimes, but on certain combinations of armour + cape looks utterly rediculous. Currently my cape is clipping straight through the collar of my necro's armour and looks horrible there >_>

Personally, I like my cape. It looks very regal, and all in all, is a good look for me. But I can see why people would dislike wearing capes, and I don't have any objections to a /hidecape command...

I like my guild. They're fun people, and we're working towards our guildhall for the pvp side of things. I'm not in the guild to get through the game; I'm in it because I have fun playing with those people. So I don't want to quit my guild.
I hate capes though and think characters should have a choice of wearing them when not in competitive areas. I don't want something that just affects my client view, since that wouldn't allow us to choose our character appearance to our own tastes. So another vote for making capes toggleable outside of PVP areas. Seems like it should be easy enough to do. |

I think that they need guild cloaks. with a hood and every thing, especially in towns where ur helm doesnt show. i think that would be neat. you might even add a HOOD/NO HOOD button so it doesnt interfer with your helm.

I have one reason why hoods would be bad.
How many people do you think would make all white robes and have guilds called KKK? Not that I care, but it would be one more thing for all the crazy liberal whiny bitches in the GW community that love to cry about racism to complain about. EDIT: hey Chance, nice guild name...lol, another CC. |
